King of the forest

Morning everyone. Today is my big brother's birthday, and he is notoriously difficult to buy for. So I didn't, I made him a picture instead! (Oh and a mighty chocolate cake- if he doesn't like his present, at least I know I'm safe with cake. Thankfully his stomach is easily pleased).

So here is the image I cut for him. Owen is an amazing photographer, willing to get up at stupid o'clock to catch the deer in Richmond park so it's not entirely random, I just hope he likes it.

Oh, and I wasn't kidding about the cake :)

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

So lovely readers, I was having a little perusal through my postings and I've just realised that for someone proclaiming themself to be a modelmaker, I've managed to post a total of zero photos of my models (poor show indeed). The balance must be redressed, and so here be a wolfman for your viewing pleasure. I made him back in my final year at Kingston, for no other reason than because I thought it would be funny.

I've always found making objects in 3D a lot easier than drawing them from my head, you naturally have to think about them from all angles and ensure that they are balanced correctly. There's something quite satisfying about building something and having a tangible object at the end too, though they're a real bugger to frame!

Mixing it right up

Check out the beauteous gifts I received in the post today! The very delightful Joe Rogers (aka Colourboxonline for all you tweeters out there) not only sent me a pair of french-themed CDs in a case fashioned from balsa wood and cut paper, but also a screen printed tote and a wee postcard. I am spoilt indeed.

These moustachioed goodies came my way because of a rather brilliant scheme originating from the brain of Mr Colourbox himself. 'The Mixtape Project' is aimed at reviving them good old days, when hours were spent constructing the perfect mixtape for your mates.

I did not get these delights for free, oh no, some work was involved on my part too. I created this little offering on the very loose theme of 'Summer in the City' for the lovely Lucy Davidson. Now that I've received my package from Joe, I feel a bit mean with my humble paper case. Ah well, next month it'll be bigger and better.

So if you fancy taking part in this venture, have a look click on here and let Joe know. If nothing else, it's the perfect excuse to watch 'High Fidelity' again...
