Misfits and Miscreants

All artworks are limited edition, highest quality giclee prints, available both framed and unframed at the exhibition and also available to buy unframed from my online shop
It's finally up! After nine months of frantic scribbling, late night colouring and numerous dramatic meltdowns, my first solo exhibition has been hung and is open for all to see.

It's being held at The Haberdashery in Crouch End*, which was voted London's Best Coffee Shop last year is one of my favourite places to spend a quiet Sunday morning. I can also highly recommend one of their incredible mochas as the perfect accompaniment to your illustration-admiring activities.

I'm not sure that my love for The Haberdashery is entirely reciprocated, not after yesterday's marathon hanging session, during which the poor staff and customers were subjected to 2 1/2 hours of enthusiastic hammering, interspersed with tedious discussions about height and spacing. Not to mention all the prints, bags, bubble wrap and general detritus strewn about the place.

Yup, you're right, that is rather a lot of photographs of Alex putting up pieces of wood, some might say too many. Also I am being helpful, I know it looks like I'm just standing around holding coffee, but I can assure you all, my input was vital. Ahem.

Luckily they were very patient and bore with the disruption until at last, the final nail was in and the pictures in place.

Now all that's left is for all you lovely people to come and see it! There's a special opening evening on Thursday evening (November 14th 18:030 - 20:30), where there will be wine and music and things. I'll be there trying not to look too awkward, so please come over and have a chat.

If you can't make Thursday, then the show will be up until Sunday 8th December (perfect for Christmas shopping, no?!). For those of you who live too far away, are allergic to North London or who simply refuse to leave the house during the winter months, you can also buy my prints, tote bags and colouring books online from my online shop.

Hopefully see you on Thursday!

* I know that Crouch End isn't on a tube line and that consequentially Londoners are very reluctant to venture there, but seriously, the mochas are THAT good. Also it's genuinely very easy to get to, just a 7 min bus ride on the W7 from Finsbury Park. It'll be worth it, I promise!

A week to go...

I can't believe that in a week's time, all the images will be framed and hung on the walls. Quite a lot left to do before that, but for the time being here's another wee peek at one of the limited edition prints that will be available from next week.... eeep!

Sneak peek

I'm really excited to announce that I'm having my first ever solo exhibition up in North London in November. For ages it's seemed like a really long way off, but this weekend I was hit by the terrifying realisation that I haven't got a clue what I'm going to be showing and the hours of scribbling time are rapidly diminishing. So after a bank holiday spent furiously leafing through sketchbooks for ideas and getting my fingers nicely inky, I've managed to make a tiny start and put together a couple of possible contenders for the show. There will be prints and other goodies available to buy at the exhibition and I'll also be adding these to my online shop. Keep your eyes open for more information (dates/times/location etc) which I will be posting over the next month or so. Gulp!

Ohh deer, oh dear

If you've not heard of the awesome online collective that is Ohh Deer, then you must have been hiding in a cave for the past 12 months. Even if you haven't been to their site, you will have seen their products in Topshop, Urban Outfitters, the Tate and Paperchase. These guys are taking over the world, which is pretty impressive considering that until very recently, the founders Mark and Jamie were running it out of their spare room.

This month they have opened their portals and are allowing illustrators to upload and sell their designs through their online shop. Never one to miss out on such an opportunity (and because I need a new iPhone cover), I've put a few pieces up, which you can purchase for the next couple of weeks only.

So if you fancy an iPhone full of pirate face or a werewolf in his y-fronts, click on the images below and all you dreams will come true.

Big Chief 'Runs with Scissors'

What's this? A year and a half of nothing and then two posts in one day?! Ridiculous.

There is a reason I promise, I've added my new A3 Native American prints to my online shop and there'll be more appearing on there soon.....
